CONSERVATION OF TRADITIONAL CULTURE IN BINH DUONG PROVINCE IN THE URBANIZATION PROCESS VIEWED FROM HUNG VUONG KINGS WORSHIP ACTIVITIES
Abstract
Worshiping Hung Kings in Vietnam has outstanding value in terms of its widespread popularity and the active contribution of the community in preserving and promoting the nation’s traditional cultural identity. Nowadays, In Binh Duong province, there are dozens of places of worshiping Hung Vuong distributed evenly throughout the area. The annual Hung Kings Commemoration Day (March 10 of the lunar calendar) is an opportunity for people, agencies, units, businesses, schools... to organize festive activities towards the origin of the nation, has a profound educational meaning, grateful to the Hung Kings for building the country. This is also one of the activities that show the consciousness of Binh Duong people in an effort to preserve the remaining traditional cultural values in the locality in the process of urbanization. On the basis of information collected through documents and fieldwork, the article analyzes Hung Vuong worshiping activities in Binh Duong province as a typical example in efforts to preserve cultural values, traditionalization needs to be replicated and learned.
