DUGOUT BOAT - A UNIQUE CULTURAL VALUE OF THAI IN THE NORTHWEST

Abstract

The dugout boat used to be quite common among the Thai and some ethnic groups in the Northwest. In recent years, due to the scarcity of natural wood resources and the development of road traffic.., the dugout boat almost no longer appear on rivers and streams and are only found in Thai people in Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province. In order to contribute to the preservation of an ancient human waterway vehicle, which is also a unique cultural value of the Thai people, the study will depict the presence of the boat with its crafting technique and its use value.
