Abstract

Economic development in ethnic minority areas bordering Vietnam - Laos in general and border tourism between Vietnam - Laos in particular is one of the issues that are always concerned and focused by our Party and State. In recent years, in addition to common development policies, the Party and State have made many major decisions and guidelines on socio-economic development, security and defense assurance in northern mountainous border provinces. As a result, the development of the Northern mountainous border ethnic minority area has obtained important achievements in all aspects, gradually stabilizing and improving people’s lives, significantly contributing to the national development, the success of hunger eradication and poverty reduction. However, the development of border tourism between Vietnam and Laos is still not commensurate with the available potential and has not clearly shown a positive role for the community of ethnic minorities in the northern mountainous region. In this article, the authors present a solution to the above problem by analyzing the current situation and positive impacts of Vietnam - Laos border tourism development to the northern mountainous border provinces, thereby proposing solutions to link and develop border tourism between Vietnam and Laos in order to improve the living standards of ethnic minority communities in the northern border area in the current context.
